GARDENS BY THE BAY

After 50 years of continued planning and execution, the Garden City Singapore wanted itself to be called the City in a Garden. A need for this new forename made way for the biggest and first of its kind tropical garden that brings together botany, horticulture, architecture, landscape design and engineering. This came to be known as Gardens by the Bay. Developed by Grant Associates and Gustafson Porter, the gardens capture the concept perfectly and help in strengthening the idea of a City in a Garden further. Construction started in 2006 and it became fully operational in June, 2012. The gardens received outstanding response from people of the world with more than one million visitors within the first two months and five million in the first year. This iconic landscape is fast turning into the garden of the world. Supertrees grab the attention of every visitor and they provide shelter to plants, organisms and vegetation around. Green technology was used to develop the supertrees, the conservatories, springs, rainforests and theme gardens like Heritage Gardens and Outdoor Gardens. These are some of the many environment supportive structures that facilitate growth of nature in Singapore – the City in a Garden.
