THE PALM JUMEIRAH
Dubai, UAE
The Palm Jumeirah is one of the three islands which form ‘The Palm Trilogy’ located on the Dubai coast in UAE. This will soon be followed by The Palm Jebel Ali and The Palm Deira. It is one of the world’s largest man-made islands and is being developed by Nakheel Properties. The Palm Jumeirah has a number of hotels, resorts and hotel residences including Atlantis, Oceana, Oceana Residences, Tiara Residences and Waldorf Astoria among others. Once all the three islands are complete, the result would be an extension of Dubai’s shoreline by 323 miles. Shaped like a palm tree, the island has a trunk, a crown with 17 fronds and a surrounding crescent-shaped island. West Asia’s first monorail connects the island to the mainland.
- Developed by Nakheel Properties
- Construction started in 2001 and possession started in 2006
- The property is spread across a little over five square kilometres
- As an additional attraction for divers, two F-100 Super Sabre fighter jets were stripped and sunken near The Palm Jumeirah to create an artificial reef
