The company has been around since 1949 when the first telephone exchange was installed in Qatar. For many years, Ooredoo has worked with community groups and charities across Qatar in the fields of education, healthcare, environment, social welfare and sports. It supports a wide range of school events and educational projects including original scientific and technical research at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar.
It is the first company in Qatar to launch an e-waste recycling programme. It has also moved all of its customers to e-billing to cut down on paper waste and join major companies around the world every year to celebrate Earth Hour, turning off lights and non-essential systems at its headquarters.

2016, Ooredoo Begins New Era of 4K Entertainment with Ooredoo tv. Ooredoo Embraces Latest Technological Developments to Deliver More Choice and Power for Customers Doha, Qatar.
During the 2014 ITU World Telecom Conference in Doha, Ooredoo in partnership with Nokia Network and China Mobile showcased a record-breaking speed of 4.1 Gbps over LTE. In April 2014, Ooredoo opened its ‘Advanced Smart Innovative Solutions’ (OASIS) lab at HQ1, providing a space where smart ICT solutions are created, tested and demonstrated for staff and customers. It also launched the latest Ooredoo App. updates with new features such as the ‘Commercial SMS Blocker’, ‘International Key’ switch and continuous log-in ability.

BRAND PROMISE
The Ooredoo Data centre received the prestigious ISO 22301 certification – Business Continuity Management Systems (BCMS) certificate at QITCOM. Ooredoo Qatar won three awards at the prestigious CMO Asia Awards. The company was recognised for ‘Best Brand Excellence in the Telecom Sector’, ‘Best Loyalty Programme’ for Nojoom and ‘Best Mobile Payment Service Provider’ for Ooredoo’s Mobile Money.
