Hyundai Creta has struck the right chord with the Indian car buyers offering them a luxurious but not pointlessly large SUV. The compact SUV segment has been one of the most lucrative segments in the Indian car market and Hyundai Creta fits like a glove in it. Almost 90 per cent of Creta’s production is localised and it is also exported to global markets from Hyundai’s Chennaibased plant.
Blaze to Brilliance
Hyundai Creta is a direct competition to the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and the Honda BR-V while it does take on the Mahindra Scorpio and the Tata Safari at its price point. Creta is the ix25 that has been modified for Indian car market and gets styling cues from Hyundai Santa Fe SUV. Based on Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0, which is a lot more subtle as compared to the previous generation design. It gets the typical Hyundai large hexagonal front grille with horizontal chrome slats and the projector headlamps have LED daytime running lamps integrated into them. It has a sporty profile with the roof rails, blacked out window sills, a sloping roof-line with a rear spoiler and the flared wheel arches. While the top-spec car comes with the 17-inch diamond cut alloys, other variants get 16-inch wheels. The wrap around tail lamps are perched high thanks to the raked windshield. The chunky bumper looks sturdy with the black cladding and the bash-plate underneath.
