Aga Khan University (AKU), a private research university located in Karachi, Pakistan, has not only flourished but has also become a valued and trusted partner of governments, various international agencies and other universities across the world.
Founded in 1983, the university was named after its famed benefactor and philanthropist, Aga Khan IV.

BLAZE TO BRILLIANCE
The university holds the unique distinction of being one of the first private-sector universities in Pakistan. The Aga Khan University alone accounts for about 70 per cent of all biomedical research in Pakistan. It has consistently maintained its high ranking position and was ranked as one of the top institutions in the ‘medical school’ category by the HEC as of 2013. In addition, the university secured its position among the 250 Asian universities ranking by the British company, Quacquarelli Symonds.

The University is planning three new faculties. These are Faculty of Arts & Sciences in Pakistan, Faculty of Arts & Sciences in East Africa and Faculty of Health Sciences in East Africa. The University library boasts of 130,000 books in print, 110,000 e-Books, 45,000 bound volumes of scholarly journals and 64,000 e-journals available from 30 different online databases.
