APG (Alakh Prakash Goyal) Shimla University is situated in the scenic Himalayan town of Shimla in the north Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. APG Shimla has academic collaborations with the China Agricultural University, the University of Maribor and the Mogilev State A. Kuleshov University of Belarus.
The institute offers various under-graduate and post-graduate programmes in engineering and technology, business management, hospitality management, journalism and mass communication, legal studies, architecture and planning, fashion designing, agriculture and pure sciences.
Following its principle of “think local, act global”, APG Shimla also offers a Higher National Diploma (HND) in collaboration with Pearson, UK in the area of management, fashion, hospitality and engineering. This gives the students an option to choose from more than 200 universities worldwide.
For admission in their engineering and technology school, candidates need to present their Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) scores. In case a candidate doesn’t have the JEE score, they can appear for the institute’s entrance exam, a merit-cum-scholarship test.
Candidates who want to apply for masters in business administration (MBA) programme should have scored a minimum 50 per cent at the under-graduate level. They also need to clear Common Admission Test (CAT), Xavier’s Admission Test (XAT), Management Aptitude Test (MAT), Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT), Himachal Pradesh Common Management Admission Test (HPCMAT) or the institute’s merit-cum-scholarship test.
This will then be followed by a group discussion and a one-on-one interview session.
APG Shimla provides round-the-clock medical facilities, a 24-hour on-call doctor, sports facilities like horse riding, trekking, golf, a well-equipped gymnasium, accommodation with proper mess facilities and also banking with ATM services.
