Bridgestone is a multinational auto and truck parts manufacturer founded in 1931 by Shojiro Ishibashi in Japan.The Bridgestone Group expanded its business to become Japan’s largest tyre manufacturer. The company also actively expanded overseas, particularly in Asia.
In 1988, the company acquired The Firestone Tyre & Rubber Company, a well respected global corporation with a venerable history of its own, transforming Bridgestone into one of the world’s largest tyre and rubber companies. It created a global team dedicated to serving customers worldwide with the highest level of quality, service and technology.
The Bridgestone Group has over 180 manufacturing plants and R&D facilities in 25 countries and sells products in more than 150 countries worldwide. Bridgestone’s diversified operations encompass automotive components, industrial products, polyurethane foam products, construction materials, parts and materials for electronic equipment, bicycles and sporting goods generating about one-fourth of its total sales, rest of it coming from the sale of tyres.
