Durgadevi Saraf Institute of Management Studies (DSIMS), promoted by the Rajasthani Sammelan and affiliated to the University of Mumbai, is a management school located in Malad, a northern suburb of Mumbai.

DSIMS offers two full-time master’s programmes – Master of Management Studies (MMS) and an autonomous post graduate diploma in management. It also offers a three-year part-time masters programme affiliated to the University of Mumbai, a full-time diploma programme in retail management in association with Retailers Association of India and various weekend certification programmes. Other programmes offered by DSIMS include a programme in family-owned business and a diploma in women entrepreneurship. The institute also offers multiple in-house management development programmes for industry and corporate representatives.

Ashok M Saraf, chairman of DSIMS Management Council, shares his vision for the institute, “We aim to provide a very different learning experience at DSIMS for which we have created state-of-the-art infrastructure that will facilitate excellent teaching-learning experience and also encourage research. While infrastructure aids the learning process, having a resourceful team is basic to quality.”

The DSIMS MMS is the flagship degree programme of the institute. The degree is approved by AICTE and awarded by the University of Mumbai. Students pursuing this programme get to specialise in any of the four specialisation streams – marketing, human resources, finance and operations.

In the PGDM programme, students are exposed to various real-life learning processes. A rural programme introduced recently by the institute makes the PGDM programme quite unique in content and delivery. Students conduct field trips over a period of one week to different rural belts to understand rural markets, supply chains and rural consumers. Rural Immersion at DSIMS is conducted in association with Rural Relations, an organisation that works at the grassroots to touch rural India through their various innovations.

The MMS students at DSIMS also get an opportunity to participate in international immersion programmes. During these programmes, the students visit different countries to study and research on international business and economic environments, understand the national and corporate culture and attend sessions by representatives from  different institutions of repute.

The institute has designed an industry-integrated curriculum, which has been aligned with the industry demands. The focus areas of supply chain and logistics, financial markets, marketing and communication, organisational psychology and human resources are well defined and relevant to the industry.

The campus infrastructure, with a total covered space of around 3,000 square metres, is modern and state-of-the-art. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled and the classrooms are equipped with smart boards, LCDs and other facilities.
