ITC launched its hotel business in 1975 with the acquisition of a hotel in Chennai which was rechristened as ‘ITC-Welcom Group Hotel Chola’. It is now known as My Fortune, Chennai. ITC’s hotel business has grown to occupy a position of leadership with over 100 owned and managed properties spread across India under four brands namely, ITC Hotels – Luxury Collection, WelcomHotels, Fortune Hotels and WelcomHeritage. The ITC Hotels are India’s second largest hotel chain with over 100 hotels including an exclusive franchisee of the Luxury Collection brand of Starwood Hotels and Resorts in India.

ITC plans to launch six new hotels by 2018. Slated to be launched in 2014-17, the company will soon open resort properties in Manesar near Gurgaon and Mahabalipuram near Chennai, followed by upcoming premium hotels in Hyderabad, Kolkata and Ahmedabad. ITC’s first overseas hotel is also expected to open in Colombo in 2018.
