With a vision to provide energy efficient lighting solutions conforming to the international quality standards at a competitive cost, Havells India Limited started the production of Compact Fluorescent Lamps, widely known as CFLs back in 2004. Today, Havells is the largest manufacturer of CFLs in India.

As compared to incandescent lamps, CFLs use one-fifth to onethird of the electric power. CFLs can also last up to eight to 15 times longer than ordinary bulbs. Havells range of CFL varies from Retrofit, Non-Retrofit, LED 0.5-5 watt to LED 7-20 watt.

Founded in 1958 by Qimat Rai Gupta, Havells India Ltd is a $1.3-billion electrical equipment company. It is one of the leading Fast Moving Electrical Goods (FMEG) company. Its offerings range from industrial to domestic electrical products. Circuit protection switchgear, cables and wires, motors, fans, power capacitors, compact fluorescent lamps (CFL), luminaries for domestic, commercial and industrial applications, modular switches, water heaters and domestic appliances are a few of them. In the arena of CFL technology, Havells have acquired some of the firsts. For instance in 2005, it became the first company to get the ISI certification for its entire range of CFLs; in 2008 it became the first Indian CFL manufacturer to adopt European norms on restriction of hazardous substances used in CFL.

Subsequently it launched India’s first High Power Factor CFL in 2009. Havells have continually upgraded its products to serve the most discerning modern consumers. It introduced India’s first Green CFL lamps which are more environmentfriendly than other CFL lamps available in the market. In 2012, Havells introduced its decorative range of CFLs at a nominal price of Rs 180 onwards. The decorative CFL lamps are available in four variants – Globe CFL, Ball CFL, Reflector CFL, and Candle CFL and come in two colours: warm white and cool day light.

Havells have acquired a number of international quality certification awards, like BASEC, CSA, KEMA, CB, CE, ASTA, CPA, SEMKO, SIRIUM (Malaysia), SPRING (Singapore), TSE (Turkey), SNI (Indonesia) and EDD (Bahrain) for complying with the most stringent quality norms. With its state-of-the-art innovations team and energy-efficient solutions, it is committed to empower the world. Currently 70 per cent of Havells product offering is energy efficient.

As of now, Havells globally owns brands like Crabtree, Sylvania, Concord and Lumiance. It has 94 branches with over 8,000 professionals in over 50 countries. It has 12 manufacturing plants in India located at Haridwar, Baddi, Noida, Faridabad, Alwar, Neemrana and six manufacturing plants located across Europe, Latin America and Africa with more than 20,000 global distributors.
