Spread across 150 acres, the Sanjay Ghodawat Group of Institutions’ (SGIs’) campus is located amidst the idyllic hills of Atigre near Kolhapur, in the western Indian state of Maharashtra. The campus has 147 faculty members of whom four are PhD holders. Almost 127 engineering faculty members teach a pool of 2,102 students and 20 others look after the management education needs of 226 MBA students.

Founded in 2009, the college already offers masters in business administration, engineering and polytechnic programmes. There are around five under-graduate disciplines of engineering they offer – namely electrical, civil, electronics and telecommunication, computer science and mechanical.
Selection is made on the basis of performance in entrance examination – CET/COMEDK. In case some candidates want direct admission to the second year of the engineering programme, they need to have passed the three-year diploma examination which is conducted by the directorate of technical education, Government of Maharashtra.
SGI encourages meritorious students by providing fee waivers to those scoring above 80 per cent in the end-term examinations without backlogs.
Bent on making the teaching-learning process more effective, SGI conducts their faculty development programme on a regular basis. Major emphasis is given on using group discussions, lab visits, quiz, seminars and industry visits to enhance the students’ learning experience. They also use various teaching aids like multimedia presentation, video films and models. The use of technology helps students grasp concepts with relative ease.
Almost 30 per cent of its faculty members come from the Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok; Technische Universitat Darmstadt, Germany; the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and the Visvesvaraya Technological University.
SGI has tie-ups with Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Nanyang Business School (Singapore) for running short-term courses for students in India with International certification. Its institutes also offer courses like MBA in Agri-Business, which has a tie up with Agro Studies Israel, and MBA in association with Clark University, US.
