The dream of providing holistic qualitative education influenced Hashu Advani to create a society titled Vivekanand Education Society (VES). Initially, it started with a small number of graduates in a small barrack. Today, it has become an education hub with 26 institutions ranging from a crèche to PhD centres.
VES Institute of Technology (VESIT) is the preferred choice in Mumbai for technology students. Innovative teaching techniques like Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning, Peer learning, Flipped Class room and Google Classroom Concept adds to the uniqueness of the teaching style at VESIT. Global exposure, skill enhancement lectures, professional competency enhancement programmes are some of the other out-of-the-box strategies adopted by the institute.
The Centre of Excellence labs in the institute such as Labview Academy of National Instruments, Big data Analytics lab with Cloudera, VLSI lab with Cadence, Wireless lab with D Link provides opportunity to the students to learn about upcoming technologies. The Accenture Career Day, L&T Day, Technological lecture series by industry experts also increase industry-institute interaction and the CII-Tech connect (Industry Institute Interaction program) conducted by Emerson Network Power and Confederation of Indian Industries in association with International Society of Automation give students an idea of excelling in a competitive environment. The Research & Development culture in the college helped it to bag seven hardware R&D projects from Larsen & Toubro, one project with Kotak Mahindra, three projects from IIT, Mumbai, and two minor research grants from Mumbai University.
The institute, affiliated to the University of Mumbai, follows the rules and regulations laid down by government, AICTE. About 51 per cent seats are reserved for the Sindhi lingustic minority while the rest is filled through a CAP test. The institute has a well-qualified faculty who are carefully selected. There are total of 173 faculties out of which 15 are PhD holders and another 22 faculty members are pursuing their doctoral studies.
VESIT has a spacious building on an area of 17,176 square meters having 35 classrooms, tutorial rooms and 60 laboratories and a spacious library having more than 44000 books.
