Constantly ranked among the top five business schools of India, Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI) was founded in the year 1949 by Father Quinn Enright in Jamshedpur. As old as the Constitution of India, the institute was built on Father Enright’s vision: “renewing the face of the earth”. The courses have been brought up to speed with the changing times over the years. Starting with courses in management and trade unions, XLRI now offers programmes for varied segments of students by the way of part-time and virtual interactive learning in addition to its portfolio of full-time, flagship management programmes in business management, human resource management and general management. It was on the strength of such diverse programmes on offer that XLRI was ranked the best B-school in India by Competition Success Review in 2012.

Its Global MBA Programme is offered in partnership with the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University (USA) and Tongji University (China). The programme is split in three phases conducted in Jamshedpur, Cleveland and Shanghai respectively.  With a capacity of 60 students, this two-year programme has 20 students each from India, USA and China. Those with a Bachelor’s degree of minimum three years or equivalent in any discipline from a recognised university from India or abroad are eligible to apply. Candidates with an experience of minimum three years are given preference for Global MBA.

Each of its two-year full time post-graduate programmes in human resource management and business management have 180 seats available. Its 15-month PGDM (General Management) is offered to 120 selected candidates. It also offers Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) and Non-residential Executive Fellow Programme in Management (EFPM).

XLRI has seen many of its students reach the pinnacle of success. V Nathan (Director Talent, Deloitte Consulting India); B. Muthuraman (Vice-Chairman, Tata Steel); Jaspal Bindra (Group Executive Director & CEO (Asia), Standard Chartered Bank); Rakesh Kapoor (Chief executive of Reckitt Benckiser plc.); Sanjiv Bhasin (GM & CEO, DBS Bank India) and Vineet Nayar (former Vice-Chairman & Joint managing director, HCL Technologies Ltd.) are just a few names.

The XLRI Jamshedpur campus is spread over 50 acres with the scenic setting of the Dalma Hills in the North and Tata Steel in the South.

The state-of-the-art infrastructure includes syndicate rooms, eight air-conditioned amphitheatre classrooms, an air-conditioned examination hall, a computer centre with latest servers and workstations, excellent sporting and recreation facilities and comfortable residences for students and the staff.

The computing resources at XLRI include latest workstations, 90 MBPS raw bandwidth WAN connectivity and high-end servers.
