ISBM, Pune

Founded in 2000 by Dr Pramod Kumar and Dr Saroja Asthana, the International School of Business and Media (ISB&M) today has a strong alumni base of around 65,000 former students.

The institute offers post-graduate diploma in management (PGDM) programmes, approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), in various disciplines like marketing, human resource, finance and, insurance and risk management. In addition to these, there are other specialisations available such as retail, operations and supply chain management and media management.

At the graduation level, the college offers a bachelor of commerce (B.Com.) programme along with a certificate programme in finance and accounts; a bachelor in science (B.Sc.) programme in mass communication, advertising and journalism along with a certificate programme in media and communication; and a bachelor in business administration (BBA) programme along with a certificate programme in management.

Admissions at ISB&M begin every year in the month of October. Candidates need to score a minimum of 50 per cent in, either, Common Admission Test (CAT), Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT), Management Aptitude Test (MAT) or Common Management Admission Test (CMAT).

This is followed by a group discussion and an interview round. The idea behind this is to evaluate students on the basis of their communication skills, articulation, team work, perspective, body language and quality of content. Generally, for compiling the final result, 60 per cent weight is given to the selection process, another 30 per cent is given to the candidate’s past academic performance and remaining 10 per cent depends on the kind of work experience the candidate has.

Its campus in Pune, India, is spread across 12 acres of lush greenery. A set of six classrooms with a seating capacity of 86 students and another set of 18 classrooms with a seating capacity of 30 to 60 students each form the backbone of the institute.

The campus also has a vast library, a well-equipped Information Technology section, a swimming pool, hostel facility, several cafes, a canteen, an amphitheatre and an auditorium.

Believing that “every student is important”, ISB&M has around 45 faculty members. For the batch of 2013-15, around 248 students enrolled in its management course, 24 enrolled in their media course, 185 joined engineering and 85 joined its BBA course. It has a teacher-student ratio of 1:15.
