Innovedge
Singapore District Cooling (SDC) provides district cooling services, which is an innovative urban utility service involving the centralised production of chilled water that is piped to commercial buildings for air-conditioning to developments at the Marina Bay New Business District. It is a joint venture between Singapore Power and Dalkia, a French energy company. Commencing commercial operation in May 2006 with One Raffles Quay as the first establishment receiving chilled water supplies from the district cooling system, SDC established it as the host establishment for the first district cooling plant. In May 2010, SDC set up its second district cooling plant at Marina Bay Sand serving areas like One Raffles Quay, Marina Bay Sands, The Sail @ Marina Bay and Marina Bay Financial Center. The company is also planning to extend supplies to Asia Square, Ocean Financial Centre, Gardens by the Bay, MRT stations and other new developments as and when they are completed in the coming years. Being an energy- and economically-efficient urban utility service, district cooling has attractive value propositions to building owners like roundthe- clock availability, demand flexibility, high supply reliability, and more space for commercial use with the elimination of in-house chiller plant, fewer constraints for creative building design, lower initial and recurrent operating costs.
