Lingaya’s University, formerly Lingaya’s Institute of Management and Technology, was established in 1998 to promote excellence in professional education in engineering, technology, architecture, management, education, science and humanities.
Located in Faridabad in the National Capital Region (NCR) of Delhi, the university strives to build the professional skills of its students. As the Indian economy marches ahead to compete on the global arena, there is a growing need for qualified professionals to steer this giant ship. Lingaya’s University aims to fulfil this void by providing industry-based education to its students.
The university has a well-qualified faculty who are carefully selected on the basis of their accomplishments. There are a total of 14 professors, 28 associate professors, 67 assistant professors, 27 lecturers and 42 doctoral degree holders on the university’s faculty. Also, the students pursuing post-graduate courses are required to teach as part of their curriculum.
To meet the increasing demand for a range of courses, the university is always in the process of augmenting the infrastructure facilities and technology upgrade for providing a healthy educational atmosphere for its students.
Dr. R K Chauhan, the Vice-chancellor, has guided the university into a partnership with the University of New Orleans (UNO) for transfer of credits of bachelors degree programmes in various engineering disciplines. The degree will be awarded jointly by the Lingaya’s University and the University of New Orleans.
It has also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Michigan State University in the field of construction management to foster international cooperation between Lingaya’s department of architecture and School of Planning, Design and Construction at Michigan University. Besides, there is strategic alliance between Lingaya’s and Webster University, Bangkok, and Graduate Institute of Science and Management, Sri Lanka.
The admission in the university is conducted on the basis of merit on all India basis.
Students are encouraged to participate in extra-curricular activities. Some of the major activities in which students are involved include a Mega Cultural Fest-ZEST, which runs for three days. Students who have a flair for technology can look forward to Tech-Fest and Technomania.
Other activities which are held from time to time include an annual sports meet, a science carnival, English Society Day celebration, blood donation camp and also a UN Parliament.
