Mainadevi Bajaj International School

Mainadevi Bajaj International School (MBIS), Mumbai, was founded by Rajasthani Sammelan, a charitable trust set up in 1948 to promote social and educational causes.

The school aims to equip its students with the ability to think and act critically, to be innovative and be able to develop an in-depth understanding of traditions and history.

MBIS follows the two-year International General Certificate of Secondary Education – Cambridge International Examinations (IGCSE – CIE) programme which is administered by Cambridge International Examinations. The students get to choose their subjects from 13 options, English language, mathematics and a second language being compulsory subjects. MBIS tries to cover 60 per cent of the entire course in the ninth standard and remaining in the tenth standard. Students are also exposed to a series of regular term tests, mock tests and other small written tests to prepare them for the IGCSE examination.

Students are required to pass a minimum of five subjects to graduate. In case a student passes in seven subjects, taken from specific subject groups, the student will be entitled to receive an additional award of International Certificate of Education (ICE). MBIS offers International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) which is a two-year educational programme administered by The International Baccalaureate, headquartered in Geneva. It is primarily aimed at students aged between 16 and 19 years and provides an internationally accepted qualification for entry into higher education. The programme is accepted by universities worldwide.

For admission in the school’s pre-school, also known as early-years programme, the parents, along with the child, are called for an interaction. The child is observed while s/he plays. In case of admission in Grade 1 to 11, an age-appropriate entrance examination is conducted to assess the child’s understanding of English and mathematics.

MBIS is located in the Rajasthani Sammelan Campus in Mumbai on its seventh, eighth and ninth floors. Apart from classrooms, there are special rooms for art, music and dance, state of the art science laboratories, well-furnished ICT laboratories, play areas and a cafeteria. The library has a vast collection of 9,000 books, DVDs, flashcards etc. In addition to the academic framework of the institute, various other activities like martial arts, speech and drama classes etc are also regularly conducted.
